Welcome to the Travel Blog site for the Anza-Borrego region by BackRoadsWest.com. This website can be used by anyone to learn about what there is to do and see in Anza-Borrego so that they can plan their trip.

Each destination in this blog site includes a Virtual Video Tour for you to watch. A single tour starts with a map showing you where the destination is located. It then zooms in and shows you “virtually” what the trip to that destination looks like, giving you a sense of what to expect when you visit that destination.

The region of Anza-Borrego lies in eastern San Diego County. It is located south of Palm Springs. The region includes the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, which is the largest state park in California. It also includes the town of Borrego Springs, which is located in the middle of the state park.  See map below:

Lesser Known Region

Many Californians are not familiar with the Anza-Borrego region.  It is located in what is known as the Colorado Desert, which is part of the larger Sonoran Desert.

Anza-Borrego offers many attractions to the visiting tourist.  These attractions include scenic drives, rewarding hikes, colorful and unique geologic formations, abundant desert flora, and more.  Anza-Borrego is often out shadowed by other more popular desert parks such as Joshua Tree and Death Valley National Parks, making Anza-Borrego a less visited by tourists.

Purpose of This Site

This blog site is an excellent tool to plan your next visit to the Anza-Borrego region.  The centerpiece of this blog site is the interactive map which shows where some of the more destinations and attractions are located.  These destinations are also listed and categorized by type of activity.

When you look at the interactive map, you will see two different types of icons.  One icon is a hiker symbol that represents hikes that you can go on.   The other icon is a picture of an SUV that represents where scenic road trips are located.

Another purpose of this blog site is to read the comments left by other visitors to Anza-Borrego about their experiences when they visited these destinations.  After visiting and seeing these places, you can also leave your own comments on what you experienced.
