This unique collection of natural springs is home to rare plants and animals as well as being an oasis for migrating birds.  Located to the east of Death Valley, just inside the Nevada border, the Ash Meadows NWR (National Wildlife Refuge) covers an area of over 22,000 acres.  Here, in this secluded and little-known wetlands area, are over twenty four plants and animals that are unique to these meadows and are found nowhere else in the world!
