BackRoadsWest presents:

The Palisades Hike

This page is not included in the sample version.  Click here to see available pages.

Hike the route of the historic Tonopah & Tidewater Railroad mainline and see some spectacular 400 foot cliffs.  The cliffs, known as the "Palisades", are multi-colored, statuesque columns that will remind you of just how big Mother Nature really is. And the old T&T railroad bed will take you right up next to them! This hike is rated "Difficult" because large sections of the railroad bed have been washed away and require a detour.  There is also a section of the hike where there is no trail at all.  But, if you're up to the challenge, it is well worth the effort!  In addition to the grandeur of the Palisades themselves, you will be rewarded with some well-preserved remnants of the old railroad line at the end of the hike.
